NuVox Communications (www.nuvox.com) is the name of the new broadband communications service provider created by the merger of Gabriel Communications Inc. and TriVergent Communications Inc. The company, which is headquartered in Chesterfield, Mo., will provide integrated voice and data services to small and mid-sized businesses in 13 contiguous Midwestern and Southeastern states.

The company takes its name from “vox,” the Latin word for voice. With the name NuVox, the company hopes to characterize itself as a new voice in the telecom and
Internet industries.

“After careful consideration, we felt it was important for our new company to have a distinctive new name that reflected our advanced broadband services and products,” says NuVox chairman and CEO, David L. Solomon. “NuVox focuses on the innovative solutions we provide our customers as the integrated communications provider of choice, delivering superior broadband services and customer care.”

NuVox will offer small and mid-sized business customers a variety of broadband services, including dedicated high-speed Internet access, DSL, web and data services, local voice, and domestic and international long distance. The company already has 30,000 customers in 30 markets throughout its service region.
